How to resign and close your worker account?
You can resign from MyGig and close your worker account yourself, straight from your profile, in two quick steps. You don't need to email us or give notice. This guide shows you how, and what happens to your employment, shifts and data.
Closing your account can't be undone. If you just need a break, pause your account instead. Your profile stays ready for when you come back: see How to pause your worker account (take a break)?
Before you start
- Download your payslips. Once your account is closed you're signed out, so save a copy of anything you need first. You'll find them under Payslips in the menu.
- Check your upcoming shifts. Any shifts you have coming up are cancelled when you confirm, and we let the businesses know. If you'd rather work them, resign after your last shift.
How to resign and close your account
Step 1: Open your profile
Log in to your worker account at worker.mygig.com.au. Select your initials in the top-right corner, then select Profile.
Step 2: Select Resign and close
Scroll down to Account settings at the bottom of your profile, then select Resign and close.

Step 3: Tell us why you're leaving
Pick the reason that fits best, then select Continue. Your answer helps us fix what isn't working.

Step 4: Read what happens next, then confirm
Check your last day, how long your records are kept and what gets deleted. If you still need your payslips, select Download my payslips first.
When you're ready, tick I understand this can't be undone, then select Resign and close account.
Nothing changes until you select Resign and close account. To back out, select Keep my account.
How you'll know it worked
You'll see Your resignation is confirmed, and you'll be signed out. The screen shows the date your employment ended, how many shifts were cancelled and how long your records are kept.
We also email you a copy. It includes how to request a separation certificate if you need one for Centrelink.
What happens when you resign
- Your employment ends the same day. Casual work doesn't need notice, so your last day is the day you confirm.
- Your upcoming shifts are cancelled. We let the businesses know.
- Your profile is deleted straight away. That includes your photo, bio, preferences, certificates and ID images.
- Your employment records are kept, as the law requires. Fair Work, tax and long service leave laws mean we have to keep them for a set period. The exact date is shown on screen before you confirm. These records are locked and only used for payroll, tax or legal reasons, or if you ask for them.
- You'll still be paid for shifts you've already worked.
If you haven't worked a shift yet
The last screen looks a little different. There's no employment to end, so we simply delete your account, and the button reads Delete my account.
- Deleted straight away: your profile, ID check, documents, and tax, bank and super details.
- Kept: your signed agreement, if you signed one, and a record that your account was closed.
- Backups: copies in our secure backups are cleared within 30 days.
Common questions
Do I need to give notice?
No. As a casual employee you can resign without notice, and your employment ends the day you confirm.
Can I come back to MyGig later?
Yes, you can sign up again any time. A closed account can't be restored, so you'll start with a fresh profile.
