How to pause your worker account (take a break)?
Need a break from shifts? You can pause your MyGig worker account yourself in a few seconds. Pausing stops shift invites and notifications for a while, and your profile stays ready so you can jump straight back in whenever you like.
Want to leave MyGig for good? Pausing keeps your account open. To end your casual employment and delete your profile, see How to resign and close your worker account?
What pausing does
- Stops shift invites and notifications until you switch them back on.
- Keeps your profile, verification, documents, and pay and tax details exactly as they are.
- Keeps you employed as a MyGig casual. Nothing is deleted.
- Lets you come back any time, with no need to contact us or onboard again.
While you're paused, you can still log in to see your shifts, payslips and Wallet.
How to pause your account
Step 1: Open your profile
Log in to your worker account at worker.mygig.com.au. Select your initials in the top-right corner, then select Profile.

Step 2: Switch on Pause my account
Scroll down to Account settings at the bottom of your profile, then switch on Pause my account.

Step 3: Check the switch is on
The switch turns purple and your account is paused straight away. There's no confirmation screen and nothing else to fill in.

How to unpause your account
Ready to work again? Go back to Profile, scroll down to Account settings and switch Pause my account off. Shift invites and notifications start again straight away.
Pause or resign: which one do I need?
| Pause my account | Resign and close account | |
|---|---|---|
| Shift invites and notifications | Stopped until you unpause | Stopped for good |
| Your profile and documents | Kept, ready to go | Deleted |
| Your employment with MyGig | Continues | Ends the day you confirm |
| Can I undo it? | Yes, any time | No. You'd sign up again with a fresh profile |
Common questions
Do I need to tell MyGig I'm taking a break?
No. Switching on Pause my account is all you need to do.
How long can I stay paused?
As long as you need. Your account stays paused until you switch it back on.
What happens to shifts I've already booked?
Pausing stops new invites. It doesn't cancel shifts you've already booked, so you're still expected to work them. If you can't make a shift, cancel it properly so the business can find a replacement: see How to cancel a shift?
Will I still be paid for shifts I've already worked?
Yes. Pausing doesn't change your pay for any shift you've worked.
I only want fewer messages, not a full pause
Use Notifications instead. It's just above Pause my account in Account settings, and lets you switch email, SMS and push notifications on or off.
I see "Couldn't update pause"
Check your internet connection, refresh the page and try the switch again. If it keeps happening, get in touch with us.
