How to cancel a shift?

We understand that sometimes you need to cancel a shift last minute. If you do need to cancel, do so as early as possible. Do not contact the business to cancel your shift. Instead, use the MyGig app to cancel or get your shift covered as soon as possible.

1.Access Your Shift

1. Open the MyGig app.
2. Go to My Shifts and select the shift you want to cancel.

2.Choose the Cancellation Option

• Tap Cancel.
• You’ll be presented with two options depending on how much notice you give:

1. Early Cancellation

If you cancel with sufficient notice, you may be offered the option to request a shift transfer.

• This allows another worker to take over your shift without impacting the business.
• You’ll receive confirmation once the transfer is approved.

2. Late Cancellation

If it’s too close to the shift start, you can still cancel, but the business will be notified immediately.

• Try to provide a clear reason so the business understands your situation.
• Frequent late cancellations may affect your booking history and reliability rating.

3.Provide a Reason

When cancelling, always include a brief explanation:

• This helps the business understand your situation.
• Examples: illness, transport issues, personal emergency, or scheduling conflict.

Being transparent and timely improves your reliability score and future booking opportunities.

4.Confirm Your Cancellation

• Review the details of the cancellation.
• Tap Confirm & Cancel to finalize.
• Your shift status will be updated in the app, and the business will be notified.

Important Notes

• Check your availability before booking to reduce the need for cancellations.
• If you are eligible, always try the shift transfer option to help the business avoid last-minute disruptions.
• If you cancel frequently without valid reasons, it may affect your profile visibility or booking eligibility.
