Working With Children Check

What it is?

The WWCC (or Blue Card in QLD - WWVP in ACT/TAS) is a background check confirming you’re cleared to work with children.


Why it’s needed?

It protects minors and ensures that workers in childcare, education, sports, and family settings meet Australia’s safeguarding standards.


How to obtain it?

  1. Apply through your state’s screening authority:
    • NSW: WWCC
    • VIC: WWC Check
    • QLD: Blue Card
    • WA: WWC Check
    • SA: DHS Check
    • TAS/ACT: WWVP
  2. Submit your ID and pay the application fee (if required).
  3. Once cleared, you’ll receive a card or notice of clearance.

How to renew it?

WWCCs usually last 5 years. You’ll receive reminders before expiry and can renew online.


How to upload it to MyGig?

  1. Log in to MyGig → Profile → Documents & Certifications.
  2. Click Upload certification → Working With Children Check.
  3. Upload a copy of your clearance or card.
