How to onboard as a worker?

Whether you're joining from the app or the website, you'll need to complete your onboarding before you can start working with MyGig.

You can create your account by choosing one of the following options:

  • Google login
  • Facebook login
  • Email sign-up using a magic link sent to your inbox

Once you're signed in, you'll be guided through a 3-step onboarding process:

Complete Your Profile

The worker onboarding is split into three main sections:

A. Worker Profile

B. Employee Onboarding

C. Payroll Setup

Let’s break down the first step:

A. Worker Profile

You'll be asked to provide:

  1. Personal Information

Basic details like your name, phone number, and address.

  1. Work Preferences

Select the industries and roles you're interested in. This helps us match you with the right shifts.

  1. Past Experiences

Optional – Only fill this out if you’ve had previous work experience. It’s a good place to highlight relevant jobs and help employers understand your background.

  1. Certifications & Trainings

Upload any certificates, licenses, or training documents you hold (e.g., RSA, White Card, First Aid).

  1. Education

Add your highest education level or any relevant academic qualifications.

  1. About You

Write a short bio to introduce yourself. You can also include any other valuable info like:

  • Languages you speak
  • Ratings from other gig platforms
  • Soft skills or personality traits

This section helps employers get to know you better and increases your chances of getting booked!

B. Employee checks

This step helps us ensure you’re eligible to work and that everything is compliant.

  1. Right to Work in Australia

We’ll need to verify your work rights through your visa and ID. This is required by law before you can start working.

  1. Contract Signing
  • You’ll be asked to electronically sign an employment contract between you and MyGig (as your legal employer). It's fast, secure, and mandatory. It'll include a Fair Work Information Statement, Contract & Employment Information, Casual Employment Information Statement.

C. Payment setup

To get paid, you need to complete this last section:

1. Bank Account Details

Enter your Australian bank account information.

Don’t have one yet? We recommend using Revolut or Wise — they're fast, reliable, and work well for international travellers.

You’ll also see an upcoming option:

"Once available, I’d like to activate my MyGig Wallet to be paid instantly."

This will let you manage funds and receive payments faster, all from one place.

  1. Superannuation

Superannuation (or “super”) is money set aside by your employer to help you save for retirement in Australia. It’s a legal requirement, even if you’re not a citizen.

To go through this step:

  • Click to "Continue" at the bottom of the page

  • Then, skip the Featured Funds

  • And choose the Default super fund

If you're an Australian worker, you can enter your own super details by selecting "Existing Super Fund"

  • To finish, you will be attributed an ID number and will be able to continue to the last step.

  • If you're not Australian and unsure which super fund to use, we recommend choosing the default fund: Hostplus.
  • You can learn more about how super works here.

International workers: You may be able to claim your super back when you leave Australia.

  1. Tax declaration

To be paid correctly, you need to submit your Tax File Number (TFN) declaration. This helps the government determine how much tax to withhold from your wages.

You can fill it in and submit it online through the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) here.

You’re all set!

Once you’ve completed these steps, you’re officially onboarded and ready to start working with MyGig. You can now apply for shifts that match your profile and start earning!
