How to manage breaks and timesheets?
Keeping accurate records of your work hours and breaks is essential for getting paid correctly and staying compliant with workplace rules. MyGig makes it easy to track your shifts and submit timesheets through the app.
Recording Breaks
During your shift:
Take the breaks you are entitled to under your award or company policy.
Use the Clock Out / Clock In feature if your break is unpaid.
- Example: For a 30-minute unpaid lunch, clock out at the start and clock back in when your break ends.
Tip: Always follow the business’s break schedule. Your timesheet will reflect these breaks and ensure your pay is accurate.
Timesheet Review
At the end of each shift, your timesheet will include:
- Clock-in and clock-out times
- Breaks taken
- Total hours worked
This timesheet is submitted to the business for review and approval.
Requesting Adjustments
If there’s an error in your timesheet (wrong hours, missed clock-in/out, or break discrepancy), you can request an adjustment:
- Open the shift in the MyGig app.
- Tap Request Hours Adjustment.
- Enter the correct times and a short explanation.
- The manager will review and approve the adjustment. If not, the dispute process will begin.
What If There’s a Problem During the Shift?
If your phone is off, the app crashes, or you cannot clock in/out:
- Notify the manager on-site immediately.
- Ask them to record your hours manually.
- Check the recorded hours once the shift ends and request adjustments if needed.
Why Accurate Timesheets Matter?
- Ensures you are paid correctly for every hour worked
- Keeps a record for payroll, superannuation, and compliance
- Helps maintain a good reputation with businesses for reliability
By managing breaks and timesheets correctly, you protect your pay, maintain compliance, and ensure your work history reflects your efforts accurately.
