What insurance and liability coverage does MyGig provide?
At MyGig, workplace safety and compliance are our top priorities. To protect both businesses and workers, MyGig provides full Workers’ Compensation and liability coverage for every approved shift completed through the platform.
This ensures that your business is compliant with Australian employment law and that every worker engaged via MyGig is covered in case of injury or accident while on the job.
Workers’ Compensation Coverage
Under Australian law, all employees must be protected by a Workers’ Compensation Insurance Policy.
As the Employer of Record (EOR), MyGig holds and manages this insurance on behalf of all businesses using the platform.
This means:
- You don’t need to maintain a separate workers’ compensation policy for MyGig workers.
- Every shift booked and approved through the platform is automatically covered.
- Claims are handled directly through MyGig’s insurance partner, in compliance with state-based legislation.
This coverage includes:
- Medical expenses resulting from a workplace injury
- Lost wages or income support during recovery
- Rehabilitation and return-to-work programs
- Death or permanent impairment benefits, where applicable
Public Liability and Professional Indemnity
In addition to Workers’ Compensation, MyGig also maintains Public Liability Insurance to protect both your business and MyGig workers in the event of third-party injury or property damage that occurs during a shift.
This layer of protection ensures that your business can operate confidently, knowing that risk and liability are managed properly at all times.
Your Responsibilities as a Business
While MyGig covers the insurance and compliance side, businesses are still responsible for:
- Providing a safe working environment and complying with Work Health & Safety (WHS) laws
- Conducting site inductions and safety briefings when required
- Reporting any incidents or injuries immediately through the MyGig platform or via support@mygig.com.au
